What changes do I have to do in my solution to upgrade from mail.it 3 to Mailit 4?In most cases your solution would work instantly with Mailit 4. We put together a list of recommendations for code changes below.
Please notice, that none of the code changes described below are critical while employing Mailit 4 in exchange for mail.it 3 in a FileMaker solution. The only exception is if hard-coded path are used in the solution. The original mail.it 3 example files for example do not use any hard-coded path strings and therefore would also work with Mailit 4 instantly.
Any programming time therefore would be invested toward improving the e-mail solution rather than making the new plug-in work.
General recommendations:
- Update 'Emai_Version' function call, if necessary (Mailit 4 function call will return major
version based on '4').
- Emai_PopGetAttachmentSize function, '{decode}' parameter can be removed, as it is obsolete.
- Due to FileMaker internal plug-in functions ID mapping, 'Emai_ShowHTML' will be automatically recognized as 'Emai_OpenBrowserHtml' (which is the new function name).
- Due to FileMaker internal plug-in functions ID mapping, 'Emai_SmtpValidateAddress' will be automatically recognized as 'Emai_SmtpFalsifyAddress' (which is the new function name).
For customized solutions:
- In case if there are any any hard-coded 'Emai_ImportFile', 'Emai_ExportFile', or 'Emai_PopExportAttachment' function calls (which are not used in original mail.it 3 example files), file path style should be adapted to the new style, used by Mailit 4. For this purpose we suggest using the new 'Emai_ConvertPath' plug-in function.
All owners of mail.it 3 that bought mail.it 3 on or after 15.02.2009 are entiteled for a FREE upgrade to Mailit 4. Mailit 4 registration codes will be send by email till 16.06.2009. How can I get the additional 10% when I purchase an Mailit 4 upgrade?Purchase the upgrade till 30.06.2009 to receive an ADDITIONAL 10 % discount on the Mailit 4 upgrade purchase. Do I qualify for a discounted upgrade to Mailit 4 if I own mail.it 2.5?Unfortunately only owners of a mail.it 3 license quality for a discounted upgrade to Mailit 4.
I want to upgrade to Mailit 4 but need more seats in the network for my license. How do I go about this.You can first upgrade your current mail.it 3 license to an equal (same license type, same users in a network) Mailit 4 through our website here.
In a second step you can request special purchase link to upgrade your Mailit 4 license for the difference to a higher amount of users in a network by contacting our sales department.

Why is Mailit 4 spelt different from mail.it 3Mailit 4 is a major update to mail.it 3 with 28 new functions. We took the advantage of this significant update to bring the product name of Mailit in line with our other plug-ins FileFire, ScripFire and MenuControl.
